Artist's Comments

Note: I apologise to those people watching me who have received notification of this image twice- the first time round it didn't appear in my gallery, and resubmitting it didn't help anyway.

When painting out-of-doors, there are many hazards to an impending masterpiece that artists resign themselves as having to put up with- wind, rain, and curious onlookers to name a few. However, as Ella the Monsterette set up her easel in a breezy back-alley in Rome, the telltale ruffling of feathers alerted her to a much more insidious danger- the hazard of perching pigeons above. Ella had suffered the harsh critiques of pigeons marring her other canvases, and she knew this would not do. The rotund little monster picked up her art materials and shuffled off to the end of the alley, where the light was best and the avian dangers scarce.
Soon enough, the pigeons followed her, hoping for scraps. As the wind picked up, smallclothes and leaves flying through the air, Ella sighed. Perhaps her masterpiece could wait another day.
Acrylic, pastel and coloured pencil on illustration board, 28 x 41 cm.

Something very weird is going on... I tried to submit my comment, and I got an error page. Then, a click of the Back button sent me to my deviation list, instead of your painting! Refresh gave me a weird DA "File Not Found" picture, and a visit to your page showed that DA isn't updating pictures to userpages at a normal speed. I did a search in your gallery and found this, but various clicks of Refresh show conflicting reports on the number of views, comments, favorites, and my message centre items. The confusion!

Anyway, I hope my last comment didn't load, so I won't sound like a broken record...

Great painting! I agree with SDB, whose comment won't show for me now, that's she's adorably ugly. her expression is priceless! Also, great job on the windy motion of the picture; I can just about hear the wind blowing!

The assorted undergarments are funny! I also find it hilarious that you've put a little dragon in with the pigeons. Talent AND personality! Typical Donna. :D

No, I thought it was a problem with DA and I resubmitted the pic... it's my fault, I should have just waited a bit longer. I really appreciate you taking the time to re-comment though, and thankyou so much for the kind words! I always love to read your comments Peachfuzz!
I was just wondering what Ella's painting would look like... hmmm... dead pigeons + pigeon poop I think. Blah. I sound like an idiot.

Naw, you don't sound like an idiot! And, it's so normal for my messed up computer to flub comment submissions that I've taken to copying them beforehand so I can re-paste them when it doesn't go through! (Forgot to this time) It was the other stuff that confused me... Hey, erase the second one with my confused comment so I don't sound stupid!

So, no worries over that DA problem... They can be seen when browsing, so you're still getting publicity! I have seen a TON of double posts because artists are sure their submissions haven't gone through. If you see someone else confused over this problem, help them out! I've had to tell a few.

Now this is just awesome, from the adorable uglyness of the the monsterette to some of the smaller things, like the dragon on the line with the pigieons and the funny assortment of undergarments. Great work as always Donna!

I suppose some of the things I do might make me a "bad person" by definition, but I don't care. If those around me can't stop from doing silly things, who am I to help them hide said things from the rest of the world? I'm gonna point it out and laugh!

This is wonderful work, really delightful :)
:iconoperaqueen:
Aww...she's lovely, and she's an artist...I gotta face her :aww:
A great idea and stunning colors...very good!
