Artist's Comments

Edward and Eloise were tickled pink. They’d just passed their Artist Test with flying colours, and were the proud owners of slick new artistic licences. Their unlicensed friends would be green with envy as Eloise and Edward painted the town red. Or blue, purple, striped, polkadot....
Smugly grinning, the pompous Paint Police watched from a distance, already scribbling fines for the newlyweds' outrageous use of colour and seriously negative space. Recently-licenced artists usually went overboard the moment the laminated scrap of plastic reached their trembling hands.

Acrylic on acid-free matboard, 56 x 81.5 cm. Scanning this on my A4 scanner was a nightmare!

I wrote the above description a long time ago, when I did the first concept sketches for the main characters late last year, and I don’t think it quite fits the tone of the finished piece. However, I’ve included it anyway.

You are correct, the description does not quite fit with the piece, but it is wonderful nonetheless! Very creative piece, I love it!

Put a little mustard on that mustard!!!

you must have bludgeoned your scanner into submission, because this looks excellent. I admit I tried to find where you had to stitch together and failed.
The details look gorgeous, and I love how some of the branches flow in and out of the painting frames.

"Smugly grinning, the pompous Paint Police watched from a distance, already scribbling fines for the newlyweds' outrageous use of colour and seriously negative space." oh dear, I'd go broke from some of the artistic crimes I've committed.

The mini story would probably have worked better with my original concept, which was more action-filled and less tranquil, but I definitely appreciate your kind comment regardless. Glad you liked this piece; best wishes.

Same here, I fear! @_@
Speaking of scanning, I think there's at least 40 different images stitched together here. I started a week ago and did a bit after work each day. I had to resize the images slightly so the computer could handle the file, but that probably says more about my computer than the file size.
Anyway, thanks heaps for the comment Becky.
