ACEO triptych, acrylic and pen on illustration board, each panel 2.5" x 3.5". Completed for a trade with the very talented :iconmoonsongwolf: ; all characters copyright to moonsongwolf.

A black hooded rat and a Sumatran tiger on a sunset sojourn... into space. Maybe they’re headed for the centre of the Milky Way for some ice cream?

This is my second ACEO triptych, and it was fun to paint such nice characters. All my recent paintings have either been really big, or ACEO sized. I feel like the artistic equivalent of one of those people who take a Great Dane and a Chihuahua for walks together.

That "black hooded rat" sure seems to be enjoying himself. 8D All the arms open: "Hail to the awesome ratness".
Very sweet colours, I also like the compostiotion, how you arranged those three seperate spaces and how awesome they look. An image that could as well be right out of some children book.
Great:heart:

Thank you very much. It's less realistic than my usual work, so I too think it would fit nicely into a storybook. I'm glad you liked it!

I don't think I've seen an ACEO triptych before, what a great idea! And nothing wrong with working in one extreme or the other. It keeps things interesting, I say.

Definitely. For sure, it taxes your ability to do detail work in such a tiny space!

Wow...you have to teach me how to use acrylics this way XD

Certainly!

1. Keep chucking paint on canvas/ board.
2. Get frustrated that the paint isn't doing what you want.
3. Attack canvas/ board with pen.
4. Voila!

:D

ACEO triptych is an awesome concept - and beautifully executed, as always. I love that warm/cool color contrast you have going on there. :D

Thank you. :) The original isn't quite as saturated as here (it scanned in MORE saturated for a change- usually the opposite occurs) but the colours still look nicely punchy in real life. Thanks heaps for the lovely comment Rachael!
