You know you've reached the zenith of fine artistic expression when you paint puffin salesmen. This is an Atlantic puffin, the most recognisable of the three puffin species.
Acrylic and coloured pencil on acid-free matboard, 30.5 x 27.5 cm. My first thing finished in ~4.5 months, so I started with something small. The description wasn't given a lot of thought. I chose to paint a puffin because a friend of mine LOVES them and I thought they'd appreciate it.

"Hmm... red, yellow, white..."
"They all look pretty good."
"I can't decide."
"Neither can I. Look God, we'll just take the lot. With the stripes, thanks."

Thanks to a few indecisive ancestors, puffins are colourful creatures, though unkindly called "absurd" and "ridiculous" by some. Their appearance unfairly restricts the average 21st century puffin to careers out of the public eye, usually involving telemarketing. Children's party entertainer or circus clown round out a cliche range of choices. There is a growing "puffin liberation" movement seeking to distance puffins from such traditional occupations, but it has yet to gain mainstream appeal from the seabird community.
